Dog Milk is a website dedicated to modern dog design, inspired by Jaime Derringer’s love for dogs. She felt that there needed to be a place where modern dog lovers can discover new products and sniff out what’s beyond the chain pet stores. Whether an innovative pet feeder, cool dog tee, or modern dog bed, Dog Milk strives to bring you the most cutting edge and modern design for your very best friend.
Dog Milk is not a retail shop, nor do we sell anything from this website. We try to direct you to a website with every post, so that you can inquire directly. All of our funding comes from our supportive advertisers and affiliates links. If you are interested in supporting our site, please click here.
Dog Milk is the sister site of Design Milk.
|Jaime Derringer, Founder and Executive Editor
A Jersey girl living the laid back life in SoCal, Jaime operates JD2 Media and the “Milk” sites, collects milk cartons, buys too many weird necklaces and lusts over one day owning a striped Gaetano Pesce Up5 Chair. Jaime has been noted as an expert on design trends, speaks on design, design blogging & social media, and does some consulting on the side. She likes to run, write poems, draw and paint.
|Capree Kimball, Managing Editor
Capree has a deep love of Victorian-era “fancy lads”, 19th Century anatomy drawings, and tin robots. She loves big, bold colors and big, bold patterns. Oh, and anything well-designed, especially if it’s something she can sit in. Capree was recently listed on Ignite Social Media’s list of “100 Women Bloggers You Should Be Reading” as well as Stylelist Home’s “5 Pinners to Follow Now“. When she’s not writing about all things dog, she spends her time gardening and watching other people’s dogs in her home.
|Katherine Becker, Contributor
Katherine wrote her own dog blog for a couple of years before joining the Dog Milk team. She lives with her husband and two dogs in the mountains of North Carolina, a locale that provides enough camping, hiking, shopping, good food, and craft beer to keep her more than happy. If she ever won the lottery, she’d most definitely spend it all on live music and airfare to New York City. She works in the legal field, which unfortunately has nothing to do with dogs, fashion, art, or music, but it does pay the bills, so it’s good enough for now.
Wrigley is a Miniature Schnauzer with a heart of gold! When he’s not snuggling with his people, napping in the sun, or chewing on a juicy bone, he enjoys car rides, romps in open fields, and pondering the meaning of life. Oh, and charming everyone he meets (it’s the beard).
Smash (aka “Space Pig”) is a Shih Tzu who loves cuddling, sleeping on the sofa, and licking everything in sight. His favorite activities include: shaking his over-sized pumpkin toy while wandering around the house, chewing on bones, napping, and making funny pig sounds. He also loves food, belly rubs, and staring off into space.
Drogo is a young Miniature Schnauzer who, after being passed around various homes and rescues, finally landed in Portland, OR, where he found his forever home with Dog Milk dogs Wrigley and Smash! He loves cuddling, running around with his brothers, and generally being a happy-go-lucky pup.
Dottie, a 5-year-old Husky mix, had at least three homes before coming to live with Katherine and her husband a few years ago. Since then she’s grown from a hyperactive, manners-less spaz into a sweet, (mostly) dutiful social butterfly. It’s estimated that she thinks about food somewhere around 23 hours a day. Prettier than she is smart, she’s eager to please and really into squeaky toys, peanuts, and Brussels sprouts.
Mingus, a 7-year-old Husky mix, is a sweet little guy wrapped up in a somewhat snobbish and stand-offish exterior. Once you pass his coolness test, though, you’re in for life. Mingus is smarter than your average 5th grader, but despite graduating from five training classes and earning his Canine Good Citizen title, he’ll rarely do anything besides exactly what he wants to do. His favorite things include digging, eggs, and his morning walk. And yes, he looks like a coyote.
|Lulu, Founding Advisor (2006-2017)
Lulu (aka Bubba) was the inspiration and founding editor of Dog Milk. She was an all-white female American Bulldog with a cute black dot on her butt. We will miss her sad eyes, love of pizza, desire for belly rubs, and unwavering slothy nature.
